Dr. Saura was born in New York City. She discovered her affinity for animals at a young age, while spending winter vacations with her grandfather — a veterinarian in Guatemala. Dr. Alex’s academic career began at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she studied pre-veterinary medicine.  She received her Bachelor’ degree in science, and was then admitted to veterinary school at St. George’s University, on the beautiful island of Grenada. After 3 years of study and sun, she spent her final year at North Carolina State University, and was awarded her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Upon graduating in 2009, Dr. Alex, who is fluent in both English and Spanish began practicing small animal veterinary medicine and emergency medicine in Westchester County, NY.  Her veterinary passions include dentistry and end-of-life care. When not at work, Dr. Alex loves spending time with her husband and two children, traveling, exercising, and cuddling her furry family Twiggy an Italian Greyhound and Willow a Golden Retriever.
